Christine Aicardi originally trained in applied mathematics and computer science project management, receiving her MEng from the École Nationale des Ponts et Chaussées in Paris in 1987. After working for several years in the Information Communication Technologies industry, she returned to higher education as a mature student. Christine obtained her MSc in History of Science, Medicine and Technology from Imperial College London in 2005 and completed her PhD in Science and Technology Studies at University College London in 2010. She was a Wellcome Trust Library fellow at UCL, researching contemporary history in neuroscience and joined the Department of Global Health & Social Medicine in 2014. Christine served as a Senior Research Fellow in the Human Brain Project's Foresight Laboratory until 2020 and is currently the Responsible Research & Innovation Lead for the Centres for Doctoral Training in Safe & Trusted AI and Smart Medical Imaging. Her research interests encompass neuroscience, neurotechnology, brain-inspired technology, and futures studies, focusing on social, collaborative practices, and responsible research innovations in emerging technologies.
