Biography

Christine Anastasiou, MD, MAS is a board-certified, fellowship-trained rheumatologist at Stanford Health Care's Immunology Rheumatology Clinic. She is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Medicine at Stanford University School of Medicine. Dr. Anastasiou specializes in diagnosing and treating patients with rheumatic diseases, with a particular focus on ankylosing spondylitis, systemic lupus erythematosus, rheumatoid arthritis, and idiopathic inflammatory myopathies. Her scholarly work includes epidemiologic studies and clinical trials aimed at improving safety and health outcomes for individuals with chronic rheumatic diseases. As an investigator and collaborator, she has worked on clinical trials investigating new therapies for the treatment of rheumatic conditions. Dr. Anastasiou actively contributes to medical education, developing and leading educational programs for patients, medical students, residents, and fellows. She is a member of the American College of Rheumatology and has published her research in peer-reviewed journals such as Arthritis Care & Research and Lupus Science & Medicine. Moreover, she has delivered lectures and presentations on rheumatology topics both nationally and internationally.
