Biography

Christine Christ-von Wedel is an Associate Researcher at the Institute for Swiss Reformation History at the University of Zurich. She has a Doctorate in Philosophy from the University of Basel, where her dissertation focused on the theme of ignorance in the work of Erasmus of Rotterdam. With a strong focus on the humanist and reformation movements, she has contributed significantly to historical and theological scholarship. Her publications serve both scholarly and general audiences, including notable works such as 'You Lead My Spirit into the Vast.' and 'The Bible Stories. Retold for Children and Adults.' In addition to her academic pursuits, she has been involved in various church and educational institutions, highlighting her dedication to both research and community engagement. Her research interests prominently include humanism, the reformation era, and the historical impact of figures such as Erasmus and Sebastian Castellio, as well as tolerance during the reformation period. She has held a teaching position at the Theological Faculty of the University of Zurich and has been awarded the Science Prize by the City of Basel for her contributions to knowledge and education.
