Dr. Christine Ko

Biography

Dr. Christine Ko is a Professor of Dermatology and Pathology at Yale School of Medicine, specializing in Dermatopathology and Transplant Dermatology. She is board certified in dermatology and holds a specialty certificate in dermatopathology. Dr. Ko focuses on diagnosing skin biopsies and providing care for patients who have undergone organ transplants, who are at a higher risk for skin cancer due to immunosuppressive medications. She completed her MD at New York University School of Medicine and her undergraduate degree at Princeton University. Dr. Ko has extensive training, including a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of California, Los Angeles, and a residency at the University of California, Irvine. Her research interests include squamous cell carcinoma and keratoacanthoma, and she is actively involved in elucidating the mechanisms of carcinogenesis. Dr. Ko emphasizes the importance of careful correlation between clinical and microscopic findings in achieving accurate diagnoses, especially in complex cases. She has collaborated with the Department of Genetics and the Division of Dermatologic Surgery to advance research in skin cancer, publishing numerous articles and books on clinical dermatology and dermatopathology. Dr. Ko is passionate about providing patients with effective treatment and strives to build trusting relationships with them.
