Biography

Christine T. Kovner, PhD, RN, FAAN, is a Professor Emerita at NYU Rory Meyers College of Nursing and also holds a professorship in medicine at the NYU Grossman School of Medicine. As a highly respected nurse educator and researcher, she has published over 150 articles. Her research focuses on quality improvement in nursing, RN working conditions, and nursing care costs. Kovner has been active as a visiting scholar at the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality and on various government policy committees, including New York’s State Hospital Review and Planning Council. Her professional accolades include the Diane O. McGivern Award and the Excellence in Policy Award from Nursing Outlook. She has held numerous leadership roles in nursing education organizations and is a fellow of the American Academy of Nursing.
