Dr. Christine Landfried

Biography

Christine Landfried has had a distinguished career in Political Science, serving as a professor for Comparative Politics at the University of Hamburg from 1991 to 2014. She held the prestigious Max Weber Chair at New York University from 2014 to 2016, focusing on studies of Germany and Europe. She received the Emile Noël Fellowship for the academic year 2016/2017, awarded to scholars researching international and regional law, particularly concerning EU transnational law and integration. Landfried's academic journey included studying Political Science, History, and International Law at Heidelberg University, along with further studies at Harvard. She has held various academic positions, including teaching assignments at the University of Heidelberg and Sciences Po in Paris. With extensive research interests, she has published on topics such as political system comparisons, party financing, and the role of the Constitutional Court in Germany. Her numerous publications reflect her contributions to the understanding of constitutional law and democratic processes in Europe.
