Biography

Christine Le is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemistry at York University. Her research interests focus on Organic and Inorganic Synthesis, Catalysis, and Medicinal Chemistry. She is dedicated to developing new reactions that expand the toolbox for organic chemists, enabling them to synthesize molecules in the laboratory more efficiently. A significant motivation behind her work is to address the needs of the pharmaceutical industry by developing robust methods to access unique heterocycles, carbocycles, and fluorine-containing compounds, thereby expanding the chemical space available for drug discovery. Her approach to discovering new reactions involves a deep understanding of reaction mechanisms and probing atomic processes using physical organic techniques. Christine is committed to creating sustainable chemical syntheses that capitalize on the use of renewable resources and aim to reduce or eliminate hazardous substances in production processes.
