Biography

Dr. Christine Leong is an associate professor and associate dean (academic) at the College of Pharmacy, University of Manitoba. She has clinical pharmacy experience primarily in primary care and hospital pharmacy, having joined the college in 2013. Her teaching responsibilities include leading the clinical division's experiential program and serving as the course coordinator for PHMD 3014 Clinical Therapeutics in the professional PharmD program. Prior to her academic role, she worked as an adult inpatient pharmacist at the Health Sciences Centre, where she took on preceptor responsibilities for pharmacy students and provided continuing education to pharmacists, residents, and physicians. Her research is concentrated in primary care and mental health pharmacy practice, with a goal to optimize treatment strategies for patients on medications. Her work thoroughly investigates psychotropic medication use, the interplay of pharmacist interventions, and outcomes related to substance use. Dr. Leong's research programs are supported by various organizations including the Canadian Foundation for Pharmacy and the Centre for Healthcare Innovation. She is also a member of the Canadian Agency for Drugs and Technologies in Health's Canadian Drug Expert Committee.
