Christine Notestine is a cognitive neuroscientist specializing in neuroimaging methods, clinical neuroimaging research, cognitive neuropsychology, and biomedical informatics. She received her B.S. in Brain and Cognitive Sciences from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and her Ph.D. in Cognitive Science and Psychology from the University of California, San Diego (UCSD). Christine’s research focuses on the development and validation of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) methods in clinical populations, particularly those affected by neurodegenerative disorders, psychiatric conditions, and the aging process. She has been involved in national, multi-site initiatives, such as the Biomedical Informatics Research Network (BIRN), working to improve data sharing and infrastructure for neuroimaging studies. Currently, Christine is leading numerous NIH-funded studies that aim to enhance the understanding of neuroimaging characteristics in aging, HIV infection, and substance use. Through her work, she aims to better characterize neuropathogenesis and develop improved image processing methods for understanding resilience and risk in cognitive health.
