Biography

Christine Ou joined the University of Victoria's School of Nursing as an assistant professor in 2021. She began her career as a pediatric registered nurse and continues to support research focused on the psychosocial well-being of families with infants and children. Dr. Ou has gained recognition as a UBC Public Scholar and is considered a Rising Star in knowledge translation work with Niagara Public Health and the Pacific Post Partum Support Society. She is an active member of the Canadian Perinatal Mental Health Collaborative national committee, advocating for a national strategy on perinatal mental health in Canada. Her research agenda promotes the health of children and families, notably examining the intersections of mood (including anger, depression, and anxiety), sleep, co-parenting, and the overall well-being of parents and young children. Additionally, she investigates individual, family, and social factors that influence children's developmental outcomes and works on establishing priorities for integrated perinatal mental health care.
