Biography

Professor Christine M. Papadakis conducts research in experimental soft matter physics with a particular emphasis on polymers. Her research employs scattering methods, including light, X-rays, and neutrons, to investigate polymers with complex architectures, responsive polymers, block copolymers, and drug delivery systems. She specializes in time-resolved scattering experiments to characterize switching mechanisms in rapidly changing environments and uses neutron spectroscopy to elucidate the underlying interactions in solvents. Professor Papadakis completed her doctorate in 1996 at the University of Roskilde in Denmark and carried out postdoctoral research at Risø National Laboratory from 1996 to 1998. Additionally, she earned her postdoctoral teaching qualification at the University of Leipzig between 1998 and 2003. Since 2003, she has been a professor at the Technische Universität München's Department of Physics, where she is actively involved in proposal committees for large-scale facilities and serves as editor-in-chief of the journal 'Colloid & Polymer Science' at Springer Verlag.
