Dr. Christoffer Boman

Biography

Christoffer Boman is an Associate Professor focused on sustainable bioenergy, biomaterials, and the utilization of residual streams and industrial by-products. His research aims to develop new knowledge that benefits society and industry by seeking sustainability through increased use of bio-based fuels and materials. Boman emphasizes the development and improvement of industrial processes to avoid costly operational problems, recycle finite resources, and minimize harmful by-products and pollution. His work is grounded in extensive experience in high-temperature inorganic chemistry and thermochemical energy conversion, with particular attention to ash chemistry and heavy metals during combustion and gasification processes. His research also involves understanding combustion aerosols and their impact on air pollution, contributing to new concepts for sustainable bioenergy production and bio-based materials. He employs a wide array of experimental analytical methods and high-temperature chemical modeling tools. His fundamental studies in laboratory settings are complemented by applied research in industrial contexts. Boman's research is a part of the national strategic program Bio4Energy, funded by various Swedish agencies, and focuses on new raw materials for energy use and promoting circular resource usage to reduce environmental and climate impacts.
