Biography

Christoph Federrath is a professor and faculty member at the Research School of Astronomy and Astrophysics of the Australian National University. He previously served as an Australian Research Council Future Fellow and a Stromlo Fellow. His postdoctoral appointments include positions at the Monash Centre for Astrophysics in Melbourne, Ecole Normale Superieure de Lyon, and the Institute for Theoretical Astrophysics in Heidelberg. Christoph studied Physics at the University of Wuerzburg from 2001 to 2007, ultimately receiving his Ph.D. in Physics from the University of Heidelberg in 2010. His research interests encompass a range of important topics in modern astrophysics, including the physics and chemistry of star-forming gas clouds, the dynamics of star formation in both the present day and early Universe, fluid dynamics, turbulence, and the influence of magnetic fields. He is actively involved in developing synthetic observations and numerical methods for computational techniques in astrophysics.
