Biography

Prof. Christoph Holst is a Full Professor at the Technical University of Munich in the Chair of Engineering Geodesy. His research area focuses on engineering geodesy, specifically the development of advanced methodologies for geodetic monitoring of infrastructural, industrial, and environmental objects. He emphasizes automation, highly accurate static and mobile laser scanning, and quality analysis of geodetic sensors. Prof. Holst applies his research to a variety of interdisciplinary tasks related to the digitization of reality. He began his academic career studying Geodesy and Geoinformation at the University of Bonn, where he specialized in engineering geodesy and parameter estimation. After completing his studies, he remained at Bonn as a research assistant and lecturer, earning his PhD in 2015 with distinction. He then led a research group focused on terrestrial laser scanning and geometric surface analyses before his appointment as a Full Professor at TUM in 2021.
