Biography

Christoph Kessler is a full professor at Linköping University, Sweden, and head of the Software Systems division. His research focuses on compiler technology, parallel programming, and optimization algorithms. Kessler received his PhD in Computer Science from the University of Saarbrücken, Germany, in 1994 and obtained his Habilitation degree from the University of Trier, Germany, in 2001. He has published two books and more than 100 scientific papers in international journals and conferences. His contributions to the field include the development of the OPTIMIST retargetable optimizing integrated code generator for VLIW DSP processors, the PARAMAT approach for automatic parallelization, and the PEPPHER component model for heterogeneous multicore systems. He served as the director of undergraduate studies from 2001 to 2004 and was responsible for developing the StASy toolchain for large-scale course management. Since 2007, he has been continuously advancing research in parallel programming languages and compiler technology.
