Biography

Christoph Seibert is a Professor of Systematic Theology at the University of Hamburg, specializing in Ethics and Philosophy of Religion. He has conducted extensive research on political ethics, the theory of religion from a pragmatist perspective, anthropology, and the modern theology and philosophy. Born in 1971, Seibert studied Protestant Theology (Philosophy) in Heidelberg and Tübingen. He received his doctorate in 2003 and has held various academic positions, including as a scientific assistant at the Institute of Ethics at the Evangelical Theological Faculty in Tübingen. Seibert was awarded the Dr. Leopold-Lucas junior scholar prize in 2004 and completed his habilitation in 2009. Before joining the University of Hamburg in 2012, he served as a vicar of the Palatinate Church and held a teaching position at the University of Tübingen. He is also a member of the Ethics Commission for Preimplantation Diagnostics North since 2014 and has contributed to various academic societies, including the German Society for Philosophy of Religion and the Scientific Society for Theology.
