Biography

Christoph Stretz is a vascular critical care neurologist at Rhode Island Hospital and an Associate Professor of Neurology and Neurosurgery at the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University. He serves as the program director for the Vascular Neurology fellowship. Dr. Stretz completed his Neurology residency at the University of Connecticut and fellowship training in Neurocritical Care and Vascular Neurology at Yale New Haven Hospital. He is board-certified in Neurology, Vascular Neurology, and Neurocritical Care. His clinical research interests focus on the acute management and secondary prevention of recurrent strokes in patients with atrial fibrillation, stroke mechanisms related to central retinal artery occlusion, and the hyperacute management of secondary prevention of intracerebral hemorrhage. He has played a significant role in establishing the annual Rhode Island Stroke Symposium since 2021, providing a platform for disseminating state-of-the-art updates in stroke care to the regions of Rhode Island and New England. Dr. Stretz is an active member of various professional organizations, including the American Academy of Neurology, the American Neurological Association, and the American Heart Association. He also serves as a reviewer for several prominent medical journals such as Stroke, JAHA, Neurocritical Care, and Frontiers in Neurology.
