Dr. Christoph Zuercher

Biography

Christoph Zuercher is a Full Professor at the Graduate School of Public and International Affairs at the University of Ottawa. He received his Ph.D. from the University of Bern, Switzerland. His teaching and research appointments include prestigious institutions such as the University of Konstanz in Germany, the Institut d'Études Politiques d'Aix-en-Provence, Stanford University, and Freie Universität Berlin. His research interests primarily focus on conflict research, state-building, and international governance, with a specific regional focus on the Soviet Union, including Russia, the Caucasus, Central Asia, and Afghanistan. Zuercher has authored significant works including 'The Post-Soviet Wars: Rebellion, Ethnic Conflict, and Nationhood in the Post-Soviet Era' and has edited 'Potentials of Disorder: Explaining Violence in the Caucasus and Yugoslavia'. He is actively involved in supervising graduate students, currently mentoring Mana Khosrowshahi.
