I am a Principal Scientist at the electron Physical Science Imaging Centre (ePSIC), which is a national user facility for aberration-corrected transmission electron microscopy located at the Diamond Light Source. My research focuses on understanding structure-property relationships in novel functional materials utilizing atomic resolution electron imaging. I develop techniques for transmission electron microscopy that operate at low dose and low energy, enabling the study of samples that are easily damaged by the incident electron beam. These techniques allow for the investigation of a wide variety of materials including metal-organic frameworks, zeolites, and metal halide perovskites, as well as low dimensional materials. My recent projects include applications in artificial intelligence for functional materials properties and advanced mechanical characterization for sustainable fiber manufacturing.
