Biography

Christopher Batten is a professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering and a graduate field member in the Department of Computer Science at Cornell University. He is part of the Computer Systems Laboratory, where he focuses on hardware-software techniques that enhance cost, performance, programmability, reliability, and energy efficiency in future computer systems. In the academic year 2023–2024, he is a visiting scholar at the University of California, Berkeley, collaborating with the SLICE Lab, and a visiting professor at NVIDIA, engaging with the Accelerator & VLSI Research Group. His previous work includes serving as a visiting scholar at the Computer Laboratory at the University of Cambridge in 2018 and holding a fellowship at Clare Hall in Cambridge, UK. Batten earned his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He received an M.Phil. in Engineering as a Churchill Scholar from the University of Cambridge in 2000 and a B.S. in Electrical Engineering as a Jefferson Scholar from the University of Virginia in 1999.
