Biography

Christopher Bergevin is an Associate Professor in the Department of Physics and Astronomy at York University. His research specialization focuses on auditory biophysics, particularly otoacoustic emissions, Tuvan throat singing, coupled/nonlinear oscillators, and signal processing in sensory physiology. Bergevin's primary interest lies in understanding how sound is transduced into neural impulses by the ear, revealing critical information about the inner workings of auditory systems. His lab employs both experimental and theoretical modeling approaches within a broad comparative framework, allowing for a deeper comprehension of otoacoustic emissions (OAEs) and their significance in clinical audiology applications.
