Biography

Christopher T. Born, MD, FACS, FAAOS, is the Intrepid Heroes Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University and the Emeritus Director of Orthopaedic Trauma at the Rhode Island Hospital. He completed his BA at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1970 and received his MD degree from Georgetown University in 1979. After finishing his orthopaedic training at the University of Pennsylvania, he joined the faculty of Brown University in 2005. Dr. Born has held clinical teaching positions at major trauma centers, including Robert Wood Johnson Medical School and Temple University. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons and has served on multiple committees related to trauma and disaster response. Dr. Born leads the Diane N. Weiss Center for Orthopaedic Trauma Research at Rhode Island Hospital, where he focuses on orthopaedic implant materials and disaster management related to musculoskeletal trauma. He has been recognized for his contributions to the field with numerous awards and honors, including the AAOS/OTA Challenge coin and the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons Achievement Award. His work involves extensive research and outreach, providing humanitarian aid during global crises, and promoting education and innovation within orthopaedic trauma management.
