Biography

Chris Christian obtained his PhD in Clinical Psychology from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. He earned a Certificate in Psychoanalysis from the Institute for Psychoanalytic Training and Research and has served as Dean and Supervising Analyst there. Dr. Christian is a professor in the Contemporary Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy program at Ramon Llull University in Barcelona. His recent book, 'Psychoanalysis and the Barrios: Race, Class, and the Unconscious,' co-authored with Patricia Gherovici, received the 2020 Gradiva Award and the American Board & Academy of Psychoanalysis Book Prize. He has co-edited volumes on psychoanalytic perspectives and therapeutic action and has been the Editor-in-Chief of the journal Psychoanalytic Psychology. Dr. Christian is working on a forthcoming book titled 'Psychoanalysis and the Corporeal: New Studies on the Psyche-Soma Connection, Somatization, and Body Dysmorphia,' which will be published by Routledge.
