Dr. Christopher Christophi

Biography

Professor Christopher Christophi is the Chair at the University of Melbourne, Department of Surgery at Austin Hospital, where he currently heads the Hepatobiliary Transplant Unit and serves as the Chairman of the Division of Surgery. He has held esteemed positions, including past president and current board member of the Australian New Zealand Hepatic, Pancreatic Biliary Association (ANZHPBA) and a member of the Executive Council of the Asian Pacific Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary Association (HPBA). Additionally, he has served as the Chair of the Upper Gastrointestinal/Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary Section Head Board at the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (RACS). His major research interests focus on Hepatopancreaticobiliary (HPB) disorders, particularly colorectal liver metastases. He has received peer-reviewed grant support from the National Health Medical Research Council (NHMRC) and Cancer Council Victoria, as well as awards such as the Member of the Order of Australia (AM) for his contributions to medicine and medical education. He has also been recognized as a Hunterian Professor by the Royal College of Surgeons in England.
