Biography

Christopher Freeburg is a distinguished Professor at the University of Illinois, specializing in African American literature and cultural studies. He serves as the Presidential Humanities Social Sciences Endowed Chair and has a notable academic background, having earned his Ph.D. from the University of Chicago in 2006. His research interests encompass a broad spectrum of topics including African American culture, the American novel from the 1850s, and the interplay of slavery within the Atlantic World. Freeburg is also exploring media aesthetics and the representation of black cultural life in America.
