Biography

Chris Gregg received his Ph.D. in Computer Engineering from the University of Virginia in 2012, a Master’s in Education from Harvard University in 2002, and a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Johns Hopkins University in 1994. Before joining Stanford as a lecturer, he taught at Tufts University in the Computer Science Department and also taught high school physics in Massachusetts and California for seven years. In addition to his academic roles, Chris served on active duty in the Navy for seven years and continues to serve as a Commander in the Navy Reserves, within the Information Warfare and Cryptology community. His research interests focus on computer architecture, particularly general purpose computing with GPUs, and pedagogy in computer science teaching and instruction. Throughout his career, Chris has been an active member of professional organizations such as the Association for Computing Machinery since 2009 and the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers since 1990.
