Biography

Dr. Chris Groombridge is an Associate Professor and Trauma Physician working in the Emergency Department at Alfred Hospital in Melbourne. He completed his emergency medicine training in February 2013 and subsequently served as a Staff Specialist at Liverpool Hospital’s Major Trauma Centre. Dr. Groombridge has a particular interest in prehospital trauma management and has worked as a retrieval specialist with Sydney HEMS, CareFlight NSW, and internationally with London's Air Ambulance. His current research focuses on optimizing airway management in the operating theatre, including developing a comprehensive airway governance program at Alfred ED. This program encompasses ongoing audits of ED intubations and structured educational interventions for trainees. As a founding member of the Procedures Course and Airway Course, he is committed to teaching life-saving interventions to critical care clinicians. Dr. Groombridge holds a Master's in Trauma Sciences from Queen Mary University of London and is currently pursuing a PhD on the human factors in resuscitation at Monash University. His expertise has led to multiple publications that examine life-saving interventions and the effects of stress during resuscitation procedures.
