Biography

Christopher worked at the University of Southampton in data and web systems since 1997, being hired as a webmaster and lead developer for versions 2.0 and 3.0 of the EPrints software. He was involved in the early days of the open access movement and set up the University of Southampton's open data service, for which he accepted an award on behalf of the University. In 2018, Christopher was awarded the Jason Farradane award in recognition of his outstanding contribution to the information profession. He built various university systems and services, including all.soton, which automatically creates mailing lists from HR and student data, and worked on the ECS Intranet and Handin System. He also collaborated on the ECS Loadings system with members of the Technical Innovation Team and developed CAPE, a tool enabling static websites to be searched and browsed by datasets provided in Excel sheets.
