Christopher worked at the University of Southampton in data and web systems since 1997, being hired as a webmaster and lead developer for versions 2.0 and 3.0 of the EPrints software. He was involved in the early days of the open access movement and set up the University of Southampton's open data service, for which he accepted an award on behalf of the University.
