Biography

Christopher Hansebout is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Anesthesia and Perioperative Medicine at Western University. He was born in Hamilton, Ontario, and completed his undergraduate medical education at the University of Queensland in Brisbane, Australia. Following this, he pursued postgraduate medical education in the United States, where he completed a residency in Anesthesiology at the State University of New York Downstate Health Sciences University, serving as Chief Resident in his final year. Hansebout further enhanced his expertise by completing a fellowship in Critical Care Medicine at Johns Hopkins University. Upon returning to Southwestern Ontario, he undertook fellowships in Regional Anesthesiology and Perioperative Echocardiography at Western University before joining the faculty there. He is actively involved in both undergraduate and postgraduate medical education with a particular interest in regional anesthesiology and point-of-care ultrasonography. Hansebout has delivered numerous invited lectures and leads workshops at conferences focused on these subjects. His research interests include fascial plane blocks for postoperative analgesia in breast surgery, the anatomical basis of thoracic plane blocks, regional blocks for knee surgery, and perioperative echocardiography related to liver transplantation.
