Dr. Christopher Hobbs

Biography

Christopher Hobbs is a Professor of Science and International Security at King's College London, specifically in the Department of War Studies. He has extensive experience in nuclear security, non-proliferation, and supply chain issues, leveraging open-source information for investigative intelligence purposes. He has previously served as Director of the King's Institute for Applied Security Studies and Co-Director of the Centre for Science and Security Studies. Holding a PhD in physics from the University of London and a Master of Physics from the University of Oxford, his research interests span nuclear security, Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD) proliferation, CBRN terrorism, counter-terrorism, insider threats, security culture, and the intersection of global health and security. He is currently the Director of the UK’s Nuclear Security Capacity Building Programme, aimed at reducing global nuclear security risks and has been involved in various advisory initiatives in both government and industry sectors. Hobbs also engages in executing educational programs emphasizing nuclear security culture and has authored several publications including works on nuclear security and open-source intelligence. Additionally, he serves on various advisory boards that influence nuclear security policy at the international level.
