Biography

Christopher Kops is an Assistant Professor in Mathematical Economics and Game Theory at the School of Business and Economics of Maastricht University. His academic journey began with a focus on Number Theory during his Diploma thesis in Mathematics. He later completed his PhD at Goethe University Frankfurt, where his thesis examined the behavioral foundations of choice decision theories. His PhD was supported by a scholarship from the Graduate School of Economics, Finance, and Management (GSEFM). Kops received the Jaffray Prize in 2021 for an outstanding paper as a young researcher. Prior to his current position, he worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Cologne and Heidelberg University, where he was recognized with the Teaching Award in 2019 for his lecture on Game Theory. His research interests include axiomatic choice decision theory, game theory, and experimental economics, with a notable focus on the characterization and identification issues within these fields. Current projects involve generalization of perfect equilibrium concepts and modeling distortions in decision-making, particularly in the context of artificial intelligence applications. Kops has extensive teaching experience, offering courses that range from Linear Algebra to Quantitative Methods.
