Biography

Christopher Kulander teaches energy-related courses at the University of Texas School of Law and is the academic co-director of the Kay Bailey Hutchison Center for Energy Law & Business, a think tank that encompasses the colleges of Business, Engineering, Geology, and Law. He is a licensed attorney in Texas and New Mexico, and he has taught various courses including Domestic Energy Law, Property, Mining Law, and both Beginning and Advanced Oil & Gas Law. Furthermore, he teaches International Energy Law as a visiting lecturer at Vytautas Magnus University in Kaunas, Lithuania. Kulander has published over twenty-five law review articles that explore a broad range of topics within energy law, lending, finance, oil & gas, land use control, American Indian law, geology, and petroleum seismology. He obtained a J.D. from the University of Oklahoma and has experience practicing law for several years, focusing on energy lending and financing. His educational background includes a B.S. in Geology, an M.S. in Geophysics from Wright State University, and a Ph.D. in Geophysics (Petroleum Seismology) from Texas A&M University. In his leisure time, he enjoys board gaming, bad movies, studying European and American history, and taking road trips to explore Appalachian geology.
