Biography

Christopher Lustri is a Senior Lecturer in Mathematics at the University of Sydney. He specializes in the use of asymptotic methods to find solutions to continuous and discrete problems arising in applied mathematics. His research predominantly focuses on exponential asymptotic techniques and the Stokes Phenomenon, which illuminates the behavior of asymptotic expressions. Lustri undertook his Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) and Bachelor of Applied Science (Honours) at Queensland University of Technology. He then pursued a DPhil at the University of Oxford under the supervision of Professor Jon Chapman, where he studied exponential asymptotics related to unsteady three-dimensional flows, completing his doctorate in 2013. He later worked as a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Sydney with Professor Nalini Joshi, concentrating on asymptotics in discrete integrable systems. Lustri joined Macquarie University as a Lecturer in Applied Mathematics from 2016 until 2023, and subsequently returned to the University of Sydney. His research interests encompass asymptotic methods, fluid dynamics, and discrete systems, contributing to the Faculty of Science's research initiatives involving fundamental laws of nature and complex systems.
