Christopher Morphew is the Dean of the Johns Hopkins School of Education since August 2017. His research focuses on institutional diversity in higher education, state higher education policy, and the ways in which colleges and universities communicate with constituent groups. His works have been published in journals such as the Review of Higher Education, Research in Higher Education, Journal of Higher Education, Educational Finance, Higher Education Policy, and Studies in Higher Education. Morphew has held leadership roles in the Association for the Study of Higher Education and the American Educational Research Association, and has made invited and refereed presentations in over a dozen countries. His research has been funded by the National Science Foundation, Lumina Foundation, Research Council of Norway, and the Ford Foundation. He co-edited a book with John Braxton titled 'Challenges for Independent Colleges', published by Johns Hopkins University Press in 2017. Prior to his role at Johns Hopkins, he was a Professor and Executive Associate Dean in the College of Education at the University of Iowa, and held tenured positions at the University of Georgia and the University of Kansas. He also served as a visiting professor as a Leiv Eiriksson Scholar at the University of Oslo. He holds a Ph.D. in Social Sciences Education from Stanford University and degrees from Harvard University and the University of Notre Dame.
