Biography

Christopher Kemper Ober is the Francis Norwood Bard Professor of Materials Engineering at Cornell University. His research focuses on lithography, patterning, and the biology materials interface control of surface structure in thin films. Ober has made significant contributions to the field of lithography, which earned him the Photopolymer Science & Technology Outstanding Contribution Award in 2015 and the American Chemical Society Award for Applied Polymer Science in 2006. He is a recipient of the Humboldt Research Prize in 2007 and was named Fellow of the American Chemical Society in 2009. Additionally, he has served as Interim Dean of Engineering at Cornell and has been recognized as a JSPS Fellow in Japan and a fellow of both the American Physical Society and the American Association for the Advancement of Science. He currently directs the Cornell Nanoscale Facility. His research group includes a mix of graduate students and post-doctoral associates, and is involved in collaborative research across various disciplines at Cornell, focusing on polymers, soft matter, advanced materials, and nanotechnology.
