Biography

Christopher B. Riley is a Professor and Department Chair at the Ontario Veterinary College, Department of Clinical Studies at the University of Guelph. He possesses a Bachelor of Science in Physics, a Bachelor of Veterinary Science with Honours, a Master of Science, and a Doctorate from the University of Saskatchewan. With a wealth of experience as an academic practicing veterinarian and international researcher, he has made significant contributions to comparative veterinary medicine, surgery, large animal welfare, and disaster response. He has authored numerous articles, book chapters, and has published over 160 papers, including 120 in peer-reviewed journals. Christopher is the lead editor of the 3rd edition of Fraser’s Behaviour and Welfare of Horses, published by CABI. He is an honorary fellow at the veterinary school of the University of Peradeniya in Sri Lanka and has been involved in various capacities such as Director of Research Commercialization and Group Leader of the Equine Group at Massey University, New Zealand. In addition to his academic achievements, he is passionate about pottery and dog training, demonstrating his diverse interests.
