Biography

Professor Scott holds the Maurice K. Goddard Chair in Forestry and Environmental Resource Conservation at Pennsylvania State University. His academic focus is on natural resource conservation policy, climate-smart forestry, watershed science management, and the water-energy-food nexus. He has extensive experience in interdisciplinary research, outreach, and engagement, particularly in the context of climate adaptation and resilience in various geographical regions including the Appalachians, Alleghenies, Andes, and the Himalayas. Professor Scott has also served as Director Emeritus of the Udall Center for Studies in Public Policy and has been involved with the University of Arizona as a University Distinguished Scholar. His previous roles include positions with the National Weather Service and the International Water Management Institute, and he has collaborated with environmental NGOs and the U.S. Agency for International Development. He earned his PhD and MS from Cornell University and his BS and BA from Swarthmore College, further developing his academic background with international experiences in India.
