Biography

Christopher W. Shanahan, MD, MPH, FACP, is a board-certified primary care physician specializing in Internal Medicine and Addiction Medicine. He brings 14 years of experience in clinical research and his work spans various critical areas, including Clinical Research, Medical Informatics & Information Technology, Substance Use Disorders, and Chronic Pain. Dr. Shanahan is dedicated to improving addiction and pain treatment through innovative approaches and collaborations. He has extensive hands-on experience in community-based clinical care and has worked across several neighborhoods in Boston and Newark, NJ. His commitment to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion is evident throughout his career as he has engaged with underserved communities and supported initiatives addressing homeless individuals, substance use disorders, and serious mental illness. He also serves as a mentor for nursing and medical students interested in primary care positions in underserved communities, showcasing his commitment to enhancing healthcare access for vulnerable populations.
