Christopher Sun is an Assistant Professor at the University of Ottawa's Telfer School of Management and also a Scientist at the University of Ottawa Heart Institute. He holds a cross-appointment with the University of Ottawa School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science. His research interests lie at the intersection of optimization, artificial intelligence, public health, and health equity. Professor Sun's work primarily involves utilizing data-driven optimization and machine learning techniques to inform the design of healthcare systems and the development of public health policies. He has conducted research collaborations with several health institutes, including Massachusetts General Hospital and Boston Emergency Medical Services in the United States, Magen David Adom in Israel, St. Michael’s Hospital in Toronto, and Gentofte Hospital in Denmark. Professor Sun received his BASc in Engineering Science (Biomedical Engineering) and his PhD in Industrial Engineering from the University of Toronto. He was a Postdoctoral Fellow and Visiting Assistant Professor at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s Sloan School of Management. His publications appear in leading journals, including the Journal of the American College of Cardiology and Circulation. He is a recipient of the CIHR Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarship and the American Heart Association Young Investigator Award, and he was named in the Citizen CPR Foundation’s 40 Under 40 List in 2021. Professor Sun is currently accepting motivated research students, including Undergraduate, Master's, and PhD candidates.
