Dr. Christopher Theofanidis

Biography

Christopher Theofanidis is a prominent composer and a professor at the Yale School of Music, where he coordinates the composition studies program and teaches graduate-level composers. His compositions span various musical genres including orchestral, chamber music, opera, and ballet. His works have been performed by some of the world’s most celebrated orchestras and opera companies, such as the London Symphony, Philadelphia Orchestra, and the New York Philharmonic. In addition to his current role at Yale, Theofanidis has taught at the Peabody Conservatory, Johns Hopkins University, and the Juilliard School. He holds multiple degrees from prestigious institutions including the Yale School of Music, Eastman School of Music at the University of Rochester, and the University of Houston. Theofanidis has been recognized with numerous accolades, including Grammy Award nominations and fellowships from the Guggenheim and Fulbright programs. He is also a composer-in-residence and co-director of the composition program at the Aspen Music Festival and School.
