Biography

Christopher Tully is a professor of physics at Princeton University. He received a B.S. in physics from California Institute of Technology in 1992 and a Ph.D. in physics from Princeton University in 1998. Tully is a leading expert on the Standard Model of elementary particles. His research in particle physics spans decades and includes work at energy-frontier particle colliders such as Fermilab and CERN in Switzerland, where he was part of the team that discovered the Higgs boson at the Large Hadron Collider. He served as a CERN Fellow from 1998 to 2000 and was awarded the Sloan Fellowship in 2003 and the IBM Einstein Fellowship at the Institute for Advanced Study in 2010. Tully is the author of the popular textbook "Elementary Particle Physics in a Nutshell" and a contributing author to "100 Years of Subatomic Physics." He has served on review committees for the National Science Foundation and the U.S. Department of Energy's Early Career program.
