Biography

Christopher Wadibia is a Junior Research Fellow at Pembroke College, University of Oxford, engaged in research at the intersection of political Pentecostalism and racism in the UK as part of Pembroke's Religion Frontier Challenges program. His doctoral research focused on the political dynamics of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), one of Nigeria's most influential indigenous Pentecostal churches dedicated to socio-political issues. He has studied at notable institutions, receiving his BA in Government from Georgetown University in 2016, an MPhil in Intercultural Theology and Interreligious Studies from Trinity College Dublin in 2018, and a PhD in Theology and Religious Studies from Selwyn College, Cambridge in 2021. He was awarded a Fulbright grant by the US Department of State to investigate Muslim-Christian relations in Nigeria between 2016 and 2017. Wadibia's commitment to academia extends to his role as Assistant Editor of the journal PentecoStudies and as an affiliated researcher at the Cambridge University Woolf Institute. His research interests encompass Global Pentecostalism; religion, politics, and development; as well as the implications of religion on society and public policy, particularly in the context of transnationalism and racism in the UK.
