Biography

Christopher J. Walker is a Professor at the University of Michigan Law School. His research primarily focuses on administrative law, regulation, and law and policy at the agency level. He teaches courses such as Administrative Law, Civil Procedure, Constitutional Litigation, Federal Courts, Legislation and Regulation, and State and Local Government Law. His publications have been featured in prominent legal journals, including the California Law Review, Duke Law Journal, Georgetown Law Journal, Michigan Law Review, Stanford Law Review, and the University of Pennsylvania Law Review. His article 'Legislating Shadows' was recognized with the 2016 American Association of Law Schools Scholarly Papers Competition Award. Walker is also the author of a forthcoming book from Cambridge University Press, titled 'Constraining Bureaucracy: Judicial Review'. Before joining the Michigan Law faculty, he taught for a decade at the Ohio State University Moritz College of Law and has extensive practical experience in the federal government and private practice. His service includes clerking for Justice Anthony Kennedy at the Supreme Court and working as part of the Civil Appellate staff at the Department of Justice. He has served on the bipartisan judicial advisory commission for Ohio and as a senior fellow at the Administrative Conference of the United States. In 2022, he was awarded the Federalist Society's Joseph Story Award.
