Biography

Chris Wallace is a Professor of Economics at the University of Manchester, having joined in 2017 after serving as the William Tyler Professor of Economics at the University of Leicester from 2011 to 2017. He previously held positions at Trinity College, Oxford, and the University of Oxford, ultimately becoming a Professor of Economic Theory there between 2000 and 2011. Wallace completed his undergraduate and graduate studies at the London School of Economics, culminating in a doctorate from Nuffield College, Oxford in 1999. His research primarily focuses on game theory, particularly on the acquisition, use, and disclosure of information in games. He has published extensively in respected journals such as the Review of Economic Studies, Economic Journal, Journal of Economic Theory, and Journal of Monetary Economics. Throughout his career, Wallace has also engaged in administrative roles, including serving as the business manager for Review of Economic Studies and as an associate editor for the Economic Journal. He was elected to the Council of the Royal Economic Society in 2017, and continues to contribute to the academic community through committee engagements and mentorship of graduate students in economics.
