Chris studied Chemistry as an undergraduate at the University of Cambridge, specifically at St John’s College. His doctoral research focused on the mechanisms of protein misfolding and aggregation under the supervision of Professor Chris Dobson. He joined Professor John Christodoulou's Department of Structural and Molecular Biology at University College London, where he leads efforts to apply NMR spectroscopy to the study of protein synthesis, co-translational folding, and nascent chains within the ribosome in living cells. In June 2022, he became a Lecturer in Biomolecular NMR at the UCL School of Pharmacy.
