Biography

Christopher Weber is an Associate Professor in the Department of Pathology at the University of Chicago. He earned his MD and PhD in Physiology from Loyola University Chicago, Stritch School of Medicine in 2004. Following his education, he completed his residency in Anatomic Pathology in 2007 at the University of Chicago Medicine. His research focuses on the biophysical properties of tight junctions and mechanisms of claudin barrier regulation in health and disease, particularly in relation to cardiac cellular electrophysiology and abnormal cellular calcium handling. He has received multiple NIH grants for his work addressing the structural and functional modulation of claudin cation channels in the gastrointestinal tract and pathways involved in tight junction pore leak regulation.
