Biography

Christopher Woodman received his Ph.D. in Physiological Sciences from the University of Arizona. He moved to the University of Missouri for a post-doctoral fellowship and then joined the faculty at the Department of Health and Kinesiology at Texas A&M University in 2006. Currently an Associate Professor and Director of the Vascular Biology Laboratory, his research examines the interactive effects of aging and exercise training on skeletal muscle and vascular function. The mission of his laboratory is to understand the structural and functional changes in arteries that occur with age, which may increase the risk of cardiovascular disease in the elderly. Additionally, his laboratory investigates mechanisms by which exercise training can attenuate or reverse the detrimental effects of aging on vascular function. His work is supported by organizations like the National Institutes of Health and the American Heart Association.
