Biography

Christopher Yip is a Professor at the University of Toronto, where he has been a faculty member since 1997. He serves as the Dean of the Faculty of Applied Science and Engineering and is the Director of the Institute of Biomaterials and Biomedical Engineering. He received his undergraduate degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Toronto in 1988 and completed his PhD in Chemical Engineering at the University of Minnesota in 1996. Yip has a broad research focus on single molecule imaging, microscopy, molecular assembly dynamics, and computational biophysics. His lab is engaged in developing and applying super-resolution and combinatorial microscopy techniques for functional cellular and molecular imaging. He has numerous affiliations and advisory roles, including serving on the Advisory Board of the Institute of Genetics at CIHR and as a standing member of the NIH Biophysics Neural Systems Study Section. Yip is also recognized for his contributions to teaching and has received multiple awards for excellence in education, including the University of Toronto Faculty of Medicine Graduate Faculty Teaching Award.
