Biography

Born in Veroia, located in Macedonia, Greece, Christos Thrampoulidis grew up in Patras, where he completed his undergraduate studies in Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Patras in 2011. His academic inspiration came from professors George Moustakides, Dimitris Toumpakaris, and George Bitsoris. Thrampoulidis relocated to California for graduate studies, attaining M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in Electrical Engineering from Caltech in 2012 and 2016, respectively, with a minor in Applied Computational Mathematics. Under the guidance of Prof. Babak Hassibi, he conducted extensive research during his Ph.D. Following this, he became a postdoctoral research associate at the Research Laboratory of Electronics at MIT, supported by Prof. Gregory W. Wornell. In 2018, Thrampoulidis joined the faculty in the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department at the University of California, Santa Barbara, before moving to Vancouver, Canada in January 2021, where he currently serves as an Assistant Professor in the ECE Department at the University of British Columbia.
