Chuan Zhao is a Professor in the School of Chemistry at the University of New South Wales (UNSW) and heads the UNSW Nanoelectrochemistry Lab, which includes around 30 researchers. He holds a Professorial Future Fellowship from the Australian Research Council and currently serves as the Chair of the Electrochemistry Division at the Royal Australian Chemical Institute (RACI). Zhao is also an elected Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry (FRSC), the Royal Australian Chemical Institute (FRACI), and the Royal Society of New South Wales (FRSN). He received his PhD in 2002, along with an excellence award from Northwest University, and completed his postdoctoral research at both the University of Oldenburg and Monash University. His research primarily focuses on novel electrochemical methods, the implications of nanomaterials and ionic liquids in electrochemical energy storage and conversion, and the applications in hydrogen production, water splitting, hydrogen fuel cells, CO2 reduction, ammonia synthesis, and batteries.
